What Do You Think of Book Reading Challenges? *UPDATED*

I've seen some very cool and interesting book challenges over the past year and have a few ideas for one or two that I might like to host, but I wanted to get YOUR feedback and opinion on reading challenges.
  • Do you like Book Reading Challenges?
  • Have you ever participated in one?
  • If not, why not?
  • If so, what was the best part of doing it?
  • Would you be more interested in a year-long challenge, or smaller monthly or quarterly challenges?
I'd also love to hear any tips on what you think would make a Book Reading Challenge fun and even your ideas for what challenge topic you would be interested in.

Please share because I'd really love to know!

*UPDATE*
Many of you have asked what exactly I mean by a reading challenge so I thought I should give you some examples of what I was thinking about. Duh. I should have thought of that from the beginning.

Here are some possible ideas for a reading challenge:
  • New to You Romance Authors - Read x Books by Authors you've never read before
  • Ebook Reading Challenge - Challenge yourself to trying out ebooks and new small epublishers
  • Harlequin Challenge - Try out 1 book from every category line for 2011. This would not only challenge you to try various different sub-genres of romance, but for many it would be a challenge to give Harlequins a try.
These were a few of my ideas...what do you think?

Cheeky Reads Reader Challenge: Reader Bella – Do You Accept This Challenge?

Last week I threw out the first ever Cheeky Reads Reader Challenge. I asked for a volunteer to read and review So Into You by Sandra Hill for a 2nd Chance Review.

You see, I LOVED the hero/heroine, but was really distracted by the Cajun dialogue, the HUGE cast of side characters that didn’t add anything to the story and that I wanted to see the h/h have more time with each other to grow.

Well, all you awesome Cheeky Readers responded, and I’ve selected our very first Reader Challenge Reviewer – Cheeky Girl Bella!

Bella will receive a copy of So Into You directly from me and will have two week to read and write a review for us. Bella will get to keep the copy of the book, but I ask for total honestly, even if she thinks my review was total crap and loved the whole book! That’s why I think 2nd Chance Reviews matter – every reader has their own opinion and it’s a book I was torn over the review and rating I gave it.

So, Bella please email me at cheekyreads @ gmail.com (without the spaces) so I can get your mailing address.

Congrats Bella and we look forward to your review!

Reader Challenge: Review So Into You For Cheeky Reads

Hi there ladies!

Today i'm issuing the first ever Cheeky Reads Reader Challenge.

Yesterday, I posted my review of So Into You by Sandra Hill and mentioned how much I really, really wanted the book to work since I loved the hero and heroine so much. Check out my review below if you missed it!

I couldn't stop thinking about that review all day and an idea sprang to mind - how about I challenge one reader to review the book and see if I missed the mark. I mean maybe I was in a bad mood and had a harder time concentrating on the Tante Lulu dialogue than I usually would? Or maybe, my issues with all the side characters won't be a problem for others?

The thing is, I loved Angel and Grace and think they need a second chance. So, I'm issuing the first ever reader challenge - I will personally ship you my copy of So Into You for you to read and write a review to be posted here at Cheeky Reads. The book will be yours to keep, and who knows I might thrown in an extra book or two as thanks! :)

Are you up for the Cheeky Reads Reader Challenge? Want to help me see if Angel and Grace really were in the right story after all (read my review and you'll understand this better)? Leave a comment below saying you're willing to take the challenge and that you can commit to reading the book and writing a review within two weeks of receiving the book.

Do you accept the challenge?
